Gaming business stopped funding sports - Georgian Gambling Association

Gaming business stopped funding sports - Georgian Gambling Association

21 Feb, 2022

During the year, the gaming business spent about 20-30 million GEL in the direction of financing sports, and this year it was planned to increase this budget, however, due to these new regulations, the gaming business broke almost all contracts. Giorgi Mamulashvili, head of the gaming business association's administration, spoke about this in "Business Morning".

"In the middle of the year, we will request information from the National Bank about how much the outflow of money from Georgia has increased. There is one point here too, it is forbidden to transfer money to the game business, but they are still carried out by different means to foreign companies. Nevertheless, we will know roughly how much the share of outflow of funds is," said Giorgi Mamulashvili.

According to him, "Toy Business Association" is planning to file a lawsuit in the Constitutional Court.

"We conduct consultations with constitutionalists and prepare lawsuits in various areas, such as related to taxes, age of consumers and advertisements. When we have everything ready, we will apply to the Constitutional Court," he said.

For information, on the basis of the amendments made to the Law "On the Organization of Lotteries, Gambling and Profitable Games" adopted at the end of last year, databases of persons "prohibited" and "addicted" to gambling should be created by March 1.
