"0.5 billion GEL will go from Georgia to foreign gambling sites" - Giorgi Nizharadze

"0.5 billion GEL will go from Georgia to foreign gambling sites" - Giorgi Nizharadze

18 Jun, 2022

Due to the regulations established in Georgia, 0.5 billion GEL will be transferred from the country to foreign gaming sites, George Nizharadze, the financial director of "Europabet", spoke about this in the BMGDRIVE program.

According to him, if nothing changes for the gaming business in Georgia, the mentioned amount may reach 1 billion GEL by next year.

"According to our calculations, up to 0.5 billion GEL will leave the country and remain on foreign sites throughout the year. Next year, if everything remains like this and nothing has changed, there is a great chance that it will increase to 1 billion. In this regard, the National Bank is obliged to make an analysis. After the analysis, we hope that the Ministry of Finance will He will share the data with us so that we can enter into some kind of dialogue. If there is a deplorable situation, and I am sure that half a billion people leaving the country is a deplorable situation, change will be necessary," explained George Nizharadze.

For information, from March 1, 2022, the list of gambling addicts and prohibited persons in Georgia came into force. The Revenue Service is responsible for the preparation of the list. According to the regulation, gaming businesses will be fined 10,000 GEL for playing games by persons under the age of 25.
