Archil Talakvadze on the gambling business - banning or allowing something by hand is not something that will reduce poverty - the issue needs a complex approach

"I have a book by Menkiu on the table, I read it every day, I have four different textbooks on economics and I read it every day.

According to Talakvadze, the issue needs a complex approach and only regulations will not reduce poverty.

"Addiction to the game is a problem and such a situation in the gaming field is one of the results and components of the social background. This problem is the result, not the beginning. When you tell me about the regulations, do you think that if you regulate the gambling business, it will reduce poverty? If we ban the gambling business, will poverty be reduced? We should look at this as a social problem and solve it as a social problem. When the gambling business is accompanied by addiction, this addiction then intersects with various social spheres, these are juveniles, criminals, illegal and shadow incomes and more. There are many aspects to this. "Starting to solve poverty is regulated by the gambling business, I do not know such a thing მაქვს I have a Menkiu book on the table, I read it every day, I have four different textbooks on modern economics and I read, there is no Egeti recipe to solve poverty by gambling business," Talakvadze said.

The presenter reminded the Speaker of the Parliament that the problem is the so-called Eliosis syndrome, when people in extreme distress have false hopes of profit and thus create more problems.

"By banning Eliosis or removing him from society, Eliosis Syndrome will not go away. When there is not one Elios, another will appear. Do you know what is needed in this field? "This field needs a complex approach, and that is education, justice, law enforcement, gambling business administration and taxation, specific rules so that children under 18 do not get involved in this business and no one gives them the opportunity to do so," Talakvadze said.

To the question, while the current legislation prohibits the involvement of persons under 18 in the gambling business, why the law is not enforced, Talakvadze answers that there is probably a problem in law enforcement. According to him, regulation is needed and he spoke about the steps that the government should take.

"What is the role of the gambling business in the economy, what is the role of the gambling business in the social sphere, what is the role of security. What happens in terms of regulations and then we have to make a decision. Prohibiting or allowing something by hand is not something that will reduce poverty, or bring better to the country. Comprehensive evaluation is required and measures are also comprehensively acceptable. If there are prohibitions, there are violations as well.
